BREAKTHROUGH FOR NEW TOWNSHIP PLAN

Thirteen villagers who have app;ied for about 50 acres of land with in the proposed project to establish a new township for Sukau have agreed to make way for the project."I am pleased that the 13 applicants have agreed to cancel their land applications(LAs)"said Sukau Assemblyman Saddi Abdul Rahman.


"In return, we will propose anather land in Sukau for them to apply and each will be given a lot in the new township to build a home once the project is completed".The project site of abaout 153 acres inKg Sukau lies abaout 55kmfrom Pekan Kota Kinabatangan.


After the land issue is resolved,Saddi said the Public Works Department (PWD)will carry put clearing work on the site and basic amenities will be constructed like roads before the groundbreaking ceremony for the new township for Sukau within two months.


He said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is expected to officiate at the ground breaking event in April."After the groundbreaking ceremony,I am positive that this project (new township for Sukau) will be the main reference (corridor) to attract investment for economic development in the Sukau area."


Apart from relocating the Kinabatangan district office to the new township of Sukau,Saddi said the proposed township would also have government departments and agencies, police station,school,bank and a row of shophouses that would be set up by the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco).
