The roles of Ikatan Relawan Rakyat (RELA) Malaysia would be more effective if it strengthens integrated cooperation with community leaders here.
Sukau Assemblyman Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman said it was necessary to have closer ties between Rela members and community leaders so as to build strong fortress in each area and would not be easily threatened or intruded by irresponsible quarters.
He said such ties and cooperation would also strengthen the entity and integrity of the body as part of public defence that is entrusted by the Government. Saddi said this when opening Aidil Fitri Open House and Thanksgiving ceremony organised by Rela Kg.Mengaris here, recently.
He said Rela has advantages that should not be taken lightly by community leaders and villagers because it could assist JKKK committees and headmen to address all their weaknesses in order to ensure their missions of safety are achieved.
Saddi was also proud that Rela in Kinabatangan has giving full commitment and cooperation in all community and government activities to ensure smooth implementation of the programmes. He also called on youths here to join Rela, including civil servants, as Sukau has vast area and need high commitment from Rela to safeguard its safety.
